Furniture that looks like it´s been dipped in paint is a popular home design trend, and this technique works well with kitchen chairs. To try it, paint just the legs of your chairs or the backs of them. Or reverse this effect and paint the entire chair except for the bottom half of the legs. This is a great way to introduce a hint of color without completely covering your chairs. Chalkboard paint can also work wonders with kitchen chairs. Use it to create mini chalkboards on the back of each chair so family members and guests can claim their spots when mealtime rolls around.

One idea for a classic Tuscan kitchen is to pair deep-brown paneled cabinetry with a beige- or gold-veined marble countertop. Rustic subway tiles can be used to create a distressed, Tuscan-influenced backsplash, while iron chandeliers provide a glamorous finishing touch. While you might not want a completely red kitchen, consider using a deep red decorative rug in this space to give the room a splash of color.

The classic black chalkboard color works well with white or light-colored cabinets, while a lighter shade is recommended for dark cabinets. A chalkboard backsplash will provide a canvas where you can write down grocery lists, recipes or special notes for your family. Easy to wipe clean, chalkboard paint works well in a space where there tends to be grease and spattered food.

L-shaped kitchens work particularly well for homeowners with a small- to medium-sized kitchen space — they require at least one wall, which will usually feature cabinets and other permanent fixtures like a stove and sink. They may also incorporate a kitchen island, which can be extremely useful for food preparation and added storage. L-shaped kitchens often feature one portion of the "L" as an open counter space with a pass-through to a dining or living room to open up the entire kitchen space and create the impression of a larger area. L-shaped kitchens can be particularly functional and attractive spaces, as useful for cooking and cleaning as for gathering, eating and conversing.

Once the primer is dry, paint a 2- to 3-inch cut-in line on the ceiling using a paintbrush. Make sure to start painting the ceiling with your roller while the cut-in line is still wet to avoid having a visible line. Then, make a zigzag pattern with your roller and go over that with straight strokes to even out the paint. Let the first coat dry and then start the same process over again for a second coat.

This can be a long, tedious process, but the results are worth it. Using the tape to create different sized "tiles," you can mimic a number of different materials, from glass to stone. If you`d like to incorporate a bunch of colors into your backsplash, this technique is the way to go.
